Do you feel depressed? If so, you're not alone. It happens to millions of people all around you. The thing that really stinks about depression is that, with all of our technology and medical "know how", we still haven't come up with a proven remedy for depression. There's a reason for this too. Read on. The biggest problem that doctor's are facing with finding a cure are that there are many different forms of depression to deal with and of these, some have their own unique symptoms that must be addressed. This is why some doctor's will give you several different medications to try to help you. You could be suffering from several symptoms and they would have to give you a different medicine for each of your symptoms. Example, you might be suffering from insomnia, depression and anxiety (Insomnia is loss of sleep). In this case, the doctor may give you an antidepressant medicine like Zoloft, something to help your anxiety attack symptoms like Busbar and possibly Trazadone in order to help you sleep. This is all hypothetical, but comes from real experience. The main problem with antidepressant medications is that, in many instances, they only relieve the depression symptoms about 70% of the time and of that, only partially. There are several people that need to "try" a lot of different drugs before they either find one that helps or choose to try something completely different, such as therapy sessions. The problem with these medicines is that it takes three to four weeks for them to get fully integrated into your system. Only after this time has passed by will you know if they are helping or not. After this time frame has passed you may decide to try another drug and the process starts all over again. Whatever you do, do not stop taking your medications without contacting your doctor first. This can be very dangerous in some cases. Other issues with these medicines are the side effects. These are always just wonderful to deal with. Diarrhea, nervousness, constipation, insomnia, fatigue and more. Isn't it funny that some of the side effects are things that you might have gone to the doctor to get help with in the first place? There are other types of depression that are serious such as Clinical depression or Manic (Bipolar) depression. People that suffer with these forms of depression suffer from an array of symptoms such as mood swings, sometimes violent, inability to mantain a normal relationship with friends or family, suicidal thoughts and more. Manic depressives have also been known to perform self mutilation, cutting themselves all over their bodies. Not serious enough to be life threatening normally, but enough to leave terrible scarring and cause themselves awful pain. Depression is mental disorder that has become much more common in this day and age. If you happen to suffer from serious depression for more than 2 weeks, you must seek medical assistance and find out what you should do next. Good luck to you.
